Fiat Car Key
Specialist

Fiat 500 keys are everywhere — and their cute round remotes break more than you'd think. We programme replacements on-site for far less than a Fiat dealer.

"My daughter's Fiat 500 — her first car, she adores it, calls it Luigi. She was parked at Sewerby Hall for a dog walk with her mates. Got back to the car and the remote wouldn't unlock — the button had completely collapsed into the key casing. She was almost in tears, convinced she'd need some kind of expensive tow-and-fix. Her friend's mum had my number and I called Ian direct. He was there in 25 minutes, cut a fresh blade and programmed a new remote key right there in the car park. Cost me £120. She went from disaster to driving home in under an hour. It was the round Fiat key with the worn-out microswitch — Ian said he sees three or four a week."

Fiat Key Types

Round Remote Flip Key

Fiat's distinctive round-cased key — the one you see everywhere on 500s and Pandas. Blade flips out, 2-3 buttons on the body, ID46 transponder chip. Cute design but the microswitches are a weak point — we see several every week with collapsed buttons.

Standard Remote Key (Newer)

A more conventional remote key used on newer 500X, Tipo, and facelift 500 models. Less prone to microswitch failure than the round key. Uses Fiat's BCM for key authentication.

Ducato Van Key

The Ducato uses a simpler but durable remote key. Shared with the Citroën Relay and Peugeot Boxer, so key blanks and programming procedures are well-documented. From £120 including mobile callout.

Fiat Key FAQs

How much does a Fiat car key cost?+
Fiat keys cost £99-£170. Basic 500/Panda remote flip keys are £99-£140. Newer keys with proximity features (500X, Tipo) cost £130-£170. Ducato keys are £120-£160. All include mobile callout. Dealers charge £200-£350.
Can you replace a Fiat 500 key?+
Yes — the 500 is one of our most common calls. It uses a round-cased remote flip key with an ID46 transponder. We carry 500 blanks as standard and programme replacements at your location in 30-40 minutes. From £99 including callout.
Do you programme Fiat Ducato van keys?+
Yes — the Ducato is the same platform as the Citroën Relay and Peugeot Boxer. We programme keys for all model years. Earlier models use ID46, newer ones (2014+) use a BCM system. From £120 including mobile callout.
How long does Fiat key programming take?+
Most Fiats take 30-45 minutes. The 500, Panda, and Punto are quick and we carry their blanks. The Ducato/Doblo and newer 500X/Tipo take 45-60 minutes due to more involved BCM coding.
My Fiat 500 remote button doesn't work — what's wrong?+
It's usually a worn microswitch — the round Fiat keys are notorious for this. Try a new battery first. If the button still doesn't click, we replace the microswitch and case for £65 instead of a whole new key. Call before ordering a replacement.
Can you programme a key for the Fiat 500X or Tipo?+
Yes — the 500X and Tipo use Fiat's newer BCM-based key system. We programme replacement remote keys on-site for £130-£170 depending on type. No dealership recovery needed.

Fiat 500 Key Playing Up?

The round Fiat remote is cute but fragile — we see collapsed buttons daily. New key programmed on-site in under an hour. From £99 across East Yorkshire.
