"We were staying at Crows Nest for the bank holiday — basic camping, just us, a tent, and a campfire. The site has those lovely views across the cliffs. Last night, we were sitting round the fire, toasting marshmallows. I was wearing shorts with shallow pockets. Stood up to get another drink from the car, and the key slipped out — straight into the edge of the fire pit. By the time I noticed, the plastic fob casing had melted. The metal blade was still there, but the electronics were a goner. Ian came out from Bridlington on a bank holiday Monday, cut and programmed a new key, and told us it was his third 'campfire casualty' that season. We felt slightly less stupid."
