"We were at a wedding at Sewerby Hall — gorgeous venue, you know the one on the clifftop. My wife was a bridesmaid. I'd driven us there in our C-Class, smart key in my suit jacket. How much does a Mercedes key replacement cost?+
Mercedes keys start from £150 for older infrared keys and go up to £300+ for chrome Keyless Go smart keys. A main dealer typically charges £280-£450. Our prices include mobile callout — you save significantly while getting dealer-level programming.
Can you replace a Mercedes Keyless Go smart key?+
Yes. We supply and programme chrome smart keys for all Mercedes with Keyless Go — A-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLC, GLE, and more. The key is programmed to the DAS system and fully tested for keyless entry and push-button start.
How long does a Mercedes key take?+
Mercedes keys take 45-90 minutes due to the sophisticated DAS/FBS security. Older infrared keys are quicker; newer FBS4 systems (2018+) need more complex programming. We'll give you a realistic estimate when you call with your model and year.
Can you do Mercedes Sprinter van keys?+
Yes — Sprinter, Vito, and V-Class are all covered. Sprinters use the same DAS/FBS security as Mercedes cars, and we have the diagnostic kit to programme keys at your location. Trade, camper, or minibus — we've done them all.
Do you programme older Mercedes infrared keys?+
Yes. Pre-2015 Mercedes models use infrared flip keys that communicate with the door receiver. We programme both the infrared remote and the transponder chip. If your infrared key has stopped working, we can test whether it's the key or the car's receiver.
Key turns but won't start — what's happening?+
This usually means the EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) isn't reading the transponder or the DAS authorisation has failed. Could be a faulty key, worn EIS, or an ESL (Electronic Steering Lock) problem — all common on Mercedes. We can diagnose and fix it on-site in most cases.
